The Strength Kit - Build Strength From Your Chair

Why we like this

This kit is built the way a session is. Upper body, lower body, and the grip work that usually gets left out. Two weights rather than one, so there's a step up waiting when you want it.

All of it works from a chair, and all of it fits in a drawer. Light enough to start from scratch, enough range to keep someone already active interested. The guide gives you ideas for both.
Full specifications
The Sculpt Dumbbell
- 1LB pair (Approx 0.5kg) each · Cast iron with a premium finish · Sculpted to sit on a shelf rather than hide in a cupboard

Soft Grip Hand Weights
- 1kg each, sold as a pair · Soft neoprene outer, iron sand fill · Slips over the hand, no gripping required

Long Resistance Band
- 2 metres — long enough to anchor under a foot and still work both hands · Natural latex · Light resistance

Complete Grip Strength Kit
- Five pieces — adjustable trainer (10–40kg), finger rings, dolphin device, egg ball, textured ring · Drawstring carry bag included

Soft Grip Strength Ball
- 7cm diameter — fits naturally in the palm · Polyurethane foam · Blue, Red or Yellow

Mini Exercise Ball
- Inflates to 20–25cm — you control the firmness · Thickened PVC · Inflation tube included

- Plus a free exercise guide — which piece for which movement

This kit covers both lower limb and upper limb work — arms, hips, thighs and legs, all seated.

Everything in this kit fits in a single drawer or under a desk. Nothing needs assembly.
Who is this for?
This kit may suit you if:

- You want to start or maintain strength work at home and don't want a gym, floor work, or anything to assemble
- You want upper and lower body covered in one kit, not just arms
- You'd rather have a progression built in than buy one weight and hit a ceiling in a month
- You've noticed your grip isn't what it was — jars, bags, holding a rail — and want to work on it alongside everything else
- You have arthritis or reduced hand strength and need weights you don't have to grip tightly
- You want variety so a routine stays interesting, without it becoming complicated
- You're buying for a parent or family member and want a complete setup they'll actually open and use

Everything here works seated. If standing is difficult, tiring, or simply not how you want to exercise, nothing in this kit requires it.

Always check with your physiotherapist before starting a new exercise programme, particularly if managing a joint condition or recovering from a procedure.
Important safety information
These products are general exercise tools and do not replace professional health advice. Always consult a qualified health professional before starting a new exercise programme, particularly if you are recovering from surgery or managing a joint condition.

General muscle fatigue is normal during exercise. Sharp joint pain is not — stop and seek advice if this occurs.

Sculpt Dumbbells: cast iron is heavy when dropped. Use on a surface where dropping will not cause damage or injury.

Soft Grip Hand Weights: discontinue use if you experience pain, numbness, or tingling.

Resistance Band: inspect for nicks or tears before each use. Release slowly and with control — never let the band snap back.

Complete Grip Strength Kit: begin on the lowest resistance setting and progress gradually.

Mini Exercise Ball: do not over-inflate beyond a firm but slightly giving resistance.

Keep out of reach of children — some components are small parts.

The physio behind the store

I built this store because I was already recommending this equipment in sessions every day. As a mobile physio working in people's homes, I know what actually fits a real living room, a real bedroom, a real kitchen and what older adults will actually use.

Everything here has been in my kit bag, used with real clients, and chosen because it works in the home environment, not just in a clinic.

Physio pro tip

How to actually use six pieces without it feeling like six things:

  • Exercise ball for the legs — squeeze it between your knees, holding a few seconds each; this is your lower limb work and it's easily the most overlooked part of a home routine
  • Sculpt Dumbbells for overhead and warm-up work — 0.5kg is light enough that shoulder movements are achievable rather than intimidating
  • Soft Grip Weights when the Sculpt pair stops feeling like work — they sit against the hand rather than needing to be gripped, which matters if your hands aren't what they were
  • Resistance band for the pulls and presses a weight can't reach — anchor it under one foot and row toward you, slow on the return
  • The band works below the waist too — loop it around both legs above the knees for hip work, or under one foot for seated leg extensions
  • Grip work any time you're sitting — the ball for gentle, the grip kit when you want more; neither needs a dedicated session
  • The guide is there when you want it — ideas for what each piece can do and how to build from there, at whatever pace suits you

Start with the lightest thing in the box. Build slowly. The kit is designed so you never outgrow it — you just move to the next piece.

What makes us different

Everything on this store is something we actually use. It's in our kit bag — we bring it into real sessions with real clients, week after week. If it's here, it's because we've tried it, trusted it, and watched it make a genuine difference.

We're not trying to sell you everything. The range is curated for older adults building strength and independence at home, and simplicity is the whole point. You don't need a home gym. You don't need to be an expert.

As a mobile physio practice, we can only reach so many people in person. This store is how we share what works with everyone else.

Why it matters

Movement keeps you going

57%
of Australians aged 65+ didn't meet physical activity guidelines
AIHW analysis of ABS NHS, 2022
65+
As we get older, staying active keeps you independent and able to do everyday activities
NSW Health, Physical activity guidelines for older adults
30min
of moderate to vigorous activity on most days is what Australian guidelines recommend for 65+
Australian movement guidelines for older adults, 2026

The evidence is clear: it is never too late to start. A few minutes of movement most days adds up to something real over time. You don't need a gym, a trainer, or a complicated programme. You need simple equipment that works at home and a reason to pick it up.

The evidence

Three things regular movement may help maintain

  • Muscle Strength
We naturally lose muscle mass as we age. Resistance exercise is one of the most effective tools for slowing that process — at any age.
  • Balance & Stability
Balance responds well to regular practice. Simple exercises done consistently can make a meaningful difference to how steady you feel day to day.
  • Independence at Home
People over 65 benefit more from adequate fitness than any other age group — to maintain independence, recover from illness, and reduce disease risk.
