Description

The weight you'll actually leave out on the bench instead of hiding in a cupboard.

Strength training is one of the most important things you can do as you get older and you don't need heavy weights to get real benefit from it. Light dumbbells used consistently, a few times a week, add up to something meaningful. The barrier has always been picking up the habit and keeping it.

These make that easier. The sculpted bone shape is cast iron with a premium finish, designed to sit on a shelf or bench and look like they belong there. When your weights are something you actually want to see, they're easier to reach for.

Three weights — 0.5kg, 0.9kg, and 1.4kg. Three colours — Azure, Grey, and Orange. Sold as a pair.

Materials & Measurements

Core: Solid cast iron

Outer: Soft TPR (Thermoplastic Rubber) silicone. Non-marking, sweat-resistant

Weights: 0.5kg (1LB), 0.9kg (2LB), 1.4kg (3LB) — approximate conversions

Colours: Azure, Grey, Orange

Sold: As a pair (two dumbbells per order)

Important Safety Information

These dumbbells are a general exercise tool and do not replace professional health advice. Always consult a qualified health professional before starting a new exercise programme, particularly if you are recovering from surgery or managing a joint or bone condition.

Do not use if you experience pain, numbness, or tingling during any exercise — discontinue use and seek advice from a health professional.

Cast iron can be heavy when dropped. Always use on a surface where dropping will not cause damage or injury.

Why we like this

Most dumbbells look like gym equipment. These look like something you'd choose for the house and that distinction matters more than it sounds. A weight that sits on the bench gets used. One that goes back in the bag doesn't.

The shape is genuinely different, the colours are considered, and the cast iron feel is premium. For the right person, that's the thing that turns "I should exercise" into actually doing it.

The physio behind the store

I built this store because I was already recommending this equipment in sessions every day. As a mobile physio working in people's homes, I know what actually fits a real living room, a real bedroom, a real kitchen and what older adults will actually use.

Everything here has been in my kit bag, used with real clients, and chosen because it works in the home environment, not just in a clinic.

Physio pro tip

Choosing your starting weight:

  • When unsure, start with the middle weight — 0.9kg; it gives you room to feel the resistance without risking too much too soon
  • If 0.9kg feels very easy after a few sessions, move to 1.4kg; if it feels like a lot, drop to 0.5kg
  • Bicep curls, shoulder raises, and slow punches forward are good starting movements — controlled and seated if needed
  • The slow return matters — lowering the weight with control does as much work as raising it
  • Keep them somewhere visible — the bench, a shelf, beside the chair; weights you can see are weights you will use

Light weights used consistently beat heavy weights used occasionally. That is true at any age.

What makes us different

Everything on this store is something we actually use. It's in our kit bag — we bring it into real sessions with real clients, week after week. If it's here, it's because we've tried it, trusted it, and watched it make a genuine difference.

We're not trying to sell you everything. The range is curated for older adults building strength and independence at home, and simplicity is the whole point. You don't need a home gym. You don't need to be an expert.

As a mobile physio practice, we can only reach so many people in person. This store is how we share what works with everyone else.

Why it matters

Movement keeps you going

57%
of Australians aged 65+ didn't meet physical activity guidelines
AIHW analysis of ABS NHS, 2022
65+
As we get older, staying active keeps you independent and able to do everyday activities
NSW Health, Physical activity guidelines for older adults
30min
of moderate to vigorous activity on most days is what Australian guidelines recommend for 65+

The evidence is clear: it is never too late to start. A few minutes of movement most days adds up to something real over time. You don't need a gym, a trainer, or a complicated programme. You need simple equipment that works at home and a reason to pick it up.

The evidence

Three things regular movement may help maintain

  • Muscle Strength
We naturally lose muscle mass as we age. Resistance exercise is one of the most effective tools for slowing that process — at any age.
  • Balance & Stability
Balance responds well to regular practice. Simple exercises done consistently can make a meaningful difference to how steady you feel day to day.
  • Independence at Home
People over 65 benefit more from adequate fitness than any other age group — to maintain independence, recover from illness, and reduce disease risk.
