Description

One loop around the foot. Your leg goes exactly where you need it to go.

Getting your leg into bed, into a car, or onto a footrest can be harder than it looks especially when your arms are doing most of the work. This leg lifter strap takes the effort out of it.

Loop it around your foot, hold one of the three grip points, and guide your leg where it needs to go. No straining, no awkward reaching, no asking someone else to step in.

Three grip points along the strap mean you can position your hands wherever feels most natural — whether you need full assistance or just a little guidance. The rigid foot loop sits securely and doesn't shift mid-movement.

It folds flat, so it travels easily — in a hospital bag, a handbag, or beside the bed. Use it every day for a few weeks, then tuck it away when you no longer need it. That's the whole point.

Small tool. Real difference.

Who is This For?

This may suit you if:

  • You're preparing for or recovering from hip, knee, or lower limb surgery and have been advised to avoid certain movements
  • Getting your leg into or out of bed, a car, or a chair is currently difficult or uncomfortable
  • You want to manage transfers independently without relying on a carer or family member every time
  • You're in hospital or an aged care setting and need support with daily transfers
  • A physiotherapist or occupational therapist has recommended a leg lifter as part of your recovery

What people use it for:

  • Getting legs into and out of bed — especially the first movement of the morning
  • In and out of the car — passenger seat transfers in the early weeks after surgery
  • Lifting a leg onto a footrest, ottoman, or elevated surface
  • Hospital and rehabilitation settings where transfers happen multiple times a day
  • Ongoing use for anyone who finds leg movement generally difficult — not just post-surgery

Materials & Measurements

Strap: Nylon

Grip handles: 3 spaced along the strap to suit different hand positions and levels of assistance needed

Loop: Rigid foot loop at the base for easy placement and secure fit

Length: 39 inches / 99 cm

Folds flat: For easy storage and transport

Important Safety Information

This leg lifter is an assistive aid for guided leg movement only. It is not a weight-bearing device and must not be used to pull yourself up from a lying or seated position, or to support your body weight in any way.

If you have been given specific movement restrictions following surgery, follow the advice of your surgeon or treating physiotherapist. This product is a general assistive tool and does not replace individual clinical guidance.

Check the strap and loop for wear or damage before each use. Do not use if any part of the strap is frayed or the loop is cracked.

Why we like this

We recommend keeping one of these on hand before you need it. The three grip points make a real difference especially if your grip isn't at full strength. One loop around the foot, three options for where to hold, and you're back in control of your own movements.

It folds flat, so it fits in a bag, a drawer, or a hospital bag without taking up space. The kind of tool that gets used quietly every day for a few weeks, then sits in a drawer and that's exactly what it's supposed to do.

The physio behind the store

I built this store because I was already recommending this equipment in sessions every day. As a mobile physio working in people's homes, I know what actually fits a real living room, a real bedroom, a real kitchen and what older adults will actually use.

Everything here has been in my kit bag, used with real clients, and chosen because it works in the home environment, not just in a clinic.

Physio pro tip

Pack it before you go — not after:

  • Before surgery, not after — once you're home you won't feel like shopping; pack it with your hospital bag now
  • Loop goes around the heel, not the toes — more secure and less likely to slip during a transfer
  • Three grip points — use the lowest one if you need more leverage, the top if you just need light guidance
  • Works in both directions — getting legs into bed and getting them out again; people often forget the second part
  • Good for the car too — use it to guide your leg in and out of the passenger seat in those first few weeks

Use it until you don't need it. There's no shame in making the first few weeks easier.

What makes us different

Everything on this store is something we actually use. It's in our kit bag — we bring it into real sessions with real clients, week after week. If it's here, it's because we've tried it, trusted it, and watched it make a genuine difference.

We're not trying to sell you everything. The range is curated for older adults building strength and independence at home, and simplicity is the whole point. You don't need a home gym. You don't need to be an expert.

As a mobile physio practice, we can only reach so many people in person. This store is how we share what works with everyone else.

Why it matters

Movement keeps you going

57%
of Australians aged 65+ didn't meet physical activity guidelines
AIHW analysis of ABS NHS, 2022
65+
As we get older, staying active keeps you independent and able to do everyday activities
NSW Health, Physical activity guidelines for older adults
30min
of moderate to vigorous activity on most days is what Australian guidelines recommend for 65+
Australian movement guidelines for older adults, 2026

The evidence is clear: it is never too late to start. A few minutes of movement most days adds up to something real over time. You don't need a gym, a trainer, or a complicated programme. You need simple equipment that works at home and a reason to pick it up.

The evidence

Three things regular movement may help maintain

  • Muscle Strength
We naturally lose muscle mass as we age. Resistance exercise is one of the most effective tools for slowing that process — at any age.
  • Balance & Stability
Balance responds well to regular practice. Simple exercises done consistently can make a meaningful difference to how steady you feel day to day.
  • Independence at Home
People over 65 benefit more from adequate fitness than any other age group — to maintain independence, recover from illness, and reduce disease risk.
