Mini Exercise Ball - Squeeze, Activate, Strengthen
Mini Exercise Ball - Squeeze, Activate, Strengthen
Small ball. Big impact.
This little ball is one of the most underrated tools in lower limb exercise and one we reach for regularly when working with clients on hip and knee strength. It's simple, versatile, and surprisingly effective for activating the muscles around your hips, knees, and inner thighs.
Squeeze it between your knees. Place it under your knee while lying down. Use it for bridges. The exercises are gentle, controlled, and can be done from a chair or your bed, no gym required.
If you're looking for a simple way to work on lower limb strength at home, this is a great place to start.

Physio Pro Tip
Physio Pro Tip
Here are three exercises worth starting with, all gentle, all effective, and all possible from your bed or a chair:
Adductor Squeeze - Seated or Lying
Place the ball between your knees and gently squeeze. Hold for a few seconds, then slowly release. This activates the adductor muscles of the inner thigh, often underworked and important for hip and knee stability.
Inner Range Quad - Lying Down
Place the ball under one knee while lying on your back. Gently straighten your leg by pushing the back of your knee down into the ball, then slowly lower. This targets the quadriceps, the muscles at the front of your thigh that are important for knee support.
Bridges with Ball
Lying on your back with knees bent, place the ball between your knees. Gently squeeze as you lift your hips off the bed or floor, then slowly lower. This works the glutes and inner thighs together.
Start with whatever feels comfortable and controlled. There should be no sharp pain during any of these movements. Always check with your health professional before starting, particularly if you are recovering from surgery or managing a joint condition.
